ATA founder Mikelsons to retire
Bankrupt ATA Holdings Inc., parent company of ATA Airlines, said Friday that its founder, J. George Mikelsons, intends to retire from his position as president and chief executive officer.
ATA and Mikelsons are seeking approval from the Bankruptcy Court over the terms of his retirement and retirement compensation arrangements. If approved, Mikelsons’ retirement will be effective Aug. 31.
Upon retirement, Mikelsons will continue to serve as the company’s non-executive chairman of the board until ATA’s confirmed plan of reorganization on Dec. 31.
John G. Denison, CEO of ATA Airlines, will succeed Mikelsons as CEO of the parent company.
