ATA: January freight volumes up 6.7%

ATA: January freight volumes up 6.7%

   U.S. member airlines of the Air Transport Association reported their total cargo volume increased 6.7 percent in January to 1.95 million revenue ton miles, compared to the same month in 2004.

   Domestic freight and express volumes for January were down 1.2 percent to 876,267 revenue ton miles over the same month in 2004. Domestic mail increased 9.3 percent to 83,684 revenue ton miles. Total domestic cargo volume was down 0.4 percent at 959,951 revenue ton miles.

   International freight and express volumes for January were up 14.9 percent to 951,350 revenue ton miles. International mail was up 9.2 percent to 39,678 revenue ton miles. International cargo volume was up 14.9 percent at 991,028 revenue ton miles.
