ATLANTIC CONTAINER LINE CONFIRMS CHANGE OF STOCKHOLDERS

Atlantic Container Line confirmed that Grimaldi, the major Italian car-carrying and roll-on/roll-off operator, has acquired 39.5 percent of the company’s stock. Grimaldi is now ACL’s largest shareholder.

Grimaldi bought the shares in two transactions. It first acquired 33.9 percent of the shares from the Holt stevedoring group and from financial institutions that owned ACL stock. It then bought about 5.6 percent of the shares from other financial institutions.

The family-owned Grimaldi group is the sixth largest roll-on/roll-off shipping group in the world. Its vessels provide cargo transport services within the Mediterranean, on the Europe/South America and Europe/West Africa routes.
