BALBOA TERMINAL OPERATOR ORDERS FIVE CRANES
Panama Ports Co., S.A., the Panama-based operator of the container terminal of Balboa, has ordered five quay cranes from Hyundai Heavy Industries as part of the phase three development program of the port.
Three of the new cranes will be “super post-Panamax,” with an outreach of 19 rows across containerships. The other two will be Panamax, with an outreach of 13 rows.
Panama Ports plans to double the capacity of the port, located at the Pacific end of the Panama Canal.
Panama Ports, owned by Hong Kong’s Hutchison Port Holdings group, operates the ports of Balboa and Cristobal.
