Baltimore to receive Jaguar imports
The Port of Baltimore will serve again as an offloading point for imports of Jaguar automobiles after a three-year hiatus, under a new three-year contract between Aston Martin Jaguar Land Rover and AMPORTS, the largest U.S. vehicle processor.
Port officials said last week that Jaguar, a division of Ford Motor Co., would ship more than 15,000 luxury vehicles per year from its manufacturing plant in England to Baltimore. The cars will be transported by Wallenius Wilhelmsen, a large operator of roll-on/roll-off ships.
AMPORT personnel will wash, inspect, install accessories, apply protective coatings and provide other preparation services before loading them on trucks and trains for Jaguar dealerships in the Midwest.
AMPORTS has three facilities in Baltimore, the second-largest auto handling port in the nation. Last year the port processed 438,000 auto imports.
