Barbecue grill imports on the hot seat in Canada
The Canadian Border Services Agency said it has begun an investigation to determine whether outdoor barbecue grills from China are being illegally dumped at below market prices and subsidized by the Chinese government.
The investigation was started after Fiesta Barbeques Ltd., Brampton, Ontario, filed a complaint saying it was being harmed by the low price offerings from Chinese manufacturer. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal also began a 60-day preliminary inquiry to determine if the imports are harming Canadian producers. If dumping is determined Canada could retroactively impose duties on the grills.
