Basham vote delayed

The Senate Finance Committee postponed Tuesday’s vote to recommend to the Senate the nomination of Ralph Basham to be the next commissioner of Customs and Border Protection.

President Bush nominated Basham, the director of the Secret Service, for the new post on Jan. 31.

The committee also postponed editing legislation to implement the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement, the panel said on its Web site.
