BAX GLOBAL TO IMPLEMENT FUEL SURCHARGE

BAX GLOBAL TO IMPLEMENT FUEL SURCHARGE

BAX Global said it will implement a fuel surcharge on all North American
shipments, effective Nov. 1
The express carrier blamed rising fuel costs for the surcharge of 1.9
cents per pound or $1 minimum charge, whichever is greater. The surcharge will be based on
Platt’s U.S. Gulf Coast Jet Mean fuel index and will move according to fuel prices.
According to the index, fuel prices have "more than doubled since March," said
Joey Carnes, recently appointed president, U.S. and Canada, for BAX Global.
BAX will also pass to shippers a user fee applied by Nav Canada for
shipments to and from Canada. Nav Canada, a private company that handles air traffic
control and flight information, began charging the aircraft operator’s user fee in March.
Effective Nov. 1, the fee will be $1 per shipment or 1 cent/pound, whichever is greater.
The surcharge will show as a separate item on invoices. The user fee
will show as an itemized charge.
