BDP, SHIPCHEM.COM JOIN FORCES
Philadelphia-based forwarder BDP International has agreed to provide logistics services for ShipChem.com, the joint venture logistics management company launched this year by Eastman Chemical Co. and software maker Global Logistics Technologies Inc.
ShipChem, which manages Eastman's logistics operations, hopes to become a neutral provider of outsourced logistics services to all companies in the global chemicals and plastics industry.
BDP is known for its logistics work in the sector. It recently launched a joint venture with chemicals giant Dupont.
Under the agreement with ShipChem, BDP will provide freight forwarding, customs brokerage, international transportation, warehousing, distribution and logistics consulting services worldwide for ShipChem clients. BDP also plans to use ShipChem technology to provide information integration and freight aggregation services.
“We are pleased to be working with ShipChem in this exciting new venture,” said BDP president Richard J. Bolte Jr. “BDP has always believed in utilizing the best technology tools available to provide best solutions for our customers. This groundbreaking alliance with ShipChem enhances our core services and information management capacity, and provides BDP personnel with a vital new tool, which will enable us to help our customers grow.”
