Beatson resurfaces as head of GlobalWare Solutions
Former logistics executive David Beatson has been named chief executive officer of GlobalWare Solutions, a supply chain management services company based in Haverhill, Mass.
He replaces Bob Roche, who will become GlobalWare's chairman.
Beatson has headed his own strategic consulting firm, Ascent Advisors, since his sudden departure in April 2005 as North American regional chief executive for Swiss freight forwarder Panalpina. Beatson and Panalpina had a falling out over how to grow the U.S. market and whether to expand into a domestic as well as international service provider. His career has included stints as a top official with Emery Worldwide, and CEO of Circle International (since acquired by Eagle Global Logistics) and later of SupplyLinks, a California-based e-commerce company.
GlobalWare, a privately held company backed by equity investment firms, provides consulting and logistics management of physical distribution and technology services from locations in the United States, the Netherlands, China, Singapore, Malaysia and India. It specializes in providing digital services, such as digital antipiracy protection for software companies, for the information technology and medical industries.
