BEATSON SURFACES AT NEW G-LOG COMPANY

David Beatson, former chairman and chief executive officer of forwarder Circle International, has surfaced as the head of a new Internet company, called SupplyLinks Inc., launched by online logistics software maker Global Logistics Technologies Inc.

Beatson will serve as chairman and CEO of San Francisco-based SupplyLinks, which described itself as an “Internet-based B2B global supply chain network that links customers to multiple transportation modes and service providers through a single platform.”

SupplyLinks will compete directly with Capstan Systems, Nextlinx Corp., ClearCross Inc. and PortsnPortals.com to develop a logistics execution network for shippers and B2B procurement exchanges that want access to global transport solutions.

“We are actively establishing relationships with freight forwarders, related logistics providers and B2B exchanges around the world to build the infrastructure for our Service Provider Marketplace,” Beatson said.

As an application service provider, or ASP, SupplyLinks said it will give users access to multiple modes of transportation with established rates from carrier and forwarder partners and landed cost capabilities. It will initially target customers in the high-tech, aerospace, heavy equipment, pharmaceutical and health care industries. SupplyLinks will use G-Log’s Global Command and Control logistics management system to run the network.

“With over 25 years experience in the transportation industry, David Beatson is a top-tier CEO who has the ability to lead the development of SupplyLinks from initial concept to a fast growing, profitable concern,” said Mitch Weseley, president and CEO of G-Log. “We are excited about the establishment of SupplyLinks because it adds to the group of companies we are starting.”

New Meadows Venture Partners in partnership with G-Log provided the initial round of funding.
