Beer quits American Airlines’ parent

James Beer, senior vice president and chief financial officer at American Airlines parent company AMR Corp., has “unexpectedly” resigned from the company.

Beer is taking a position with Californian software company Symantec. He joined AMR 15 years ago and was made CFO in December 2003.

The financially struggling company said it will immediately begin a search for Beer’s successor.
