BIPARTISAN LEADERSHIP URGES FULL HIGHWAY, AVIATION FUNDING

   The Republican and Democratic leadership of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has appealed to President Bush to fully fund $53 billion in highway and aviation programs.

   In a letter sent to the President, Committee chairman Don Young, R-Alaska and Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn, the ranking Democrat on the Committee, requested $32.8 billion for highway projects; $6.7 billion for transit programs; and, $13.4 billion for aviation.
