BJORK EKLUND GROUP EXPANDS IN SCANDINAVIA
The Bjork Eklund Group of Sweden is expanding its activities, establishing a significant presence in Norway, and opening offices in Sweden through a freight forwarding subsidiary.
The group has formed Bjork Eklund & Partners AS as a holding company for a number of operating subsidiaries including Scandinavian Agencies AS and GreenCarrier Norway AS. These companies will be operational effective March 1, initially employing about 20 people.
Scandinavian Shipping Agencies will offer liner agency services to shortsea and deepsea carriers and is in discussion with several principals, the group said.
GreenCarrier Norway AS will extend Bjork Eklund's forwarding activities into the Norwegian market.
In addition, GreenCarrier Scandinavia AB, Bjork Eklund's freight forwarding subsidiary in Sweden, will open four new offices in Lulea, Skelleftea, Kalmar and Karlstad, Sweden. The offices will a staff of 20 to 25 additional appointments, expanding the subsidiary to nearly 90 people.
Based in Gothenburg, GreenCarrier Scandinavia also has branch offices in Stockholm, Linkoping and Helsingborg, as well as in Bilbao, the location of GreenCarrier Scandinavia's partner, GreenCarrier Espana.
Bjork Eklund Group was formed in January 2000 by partners Stefan Bjork and Bjorn Eklund, when they acquired Greenship Sweden and some sister companies in a management buyout. The group also includes GreenAir Scandinavia AB, GreenShip Sweden AB and Svensk Logistik Partner AB.
