BNSF quickly resumes operations after accident
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway has reopened part of a line that closed for a day after a train derailed near Norman, Okla., Tuesday morning, spokesman Joe Faust said.
The 111-car train was carrying grain for ADM Farmland from Hutchinson, Kan., to the port in Galveston, Texas, when 32 cars jumped the track, Faust told American Shipper. BNSF crews cleared the track and resumed operations Wednesday morning, but customers were told to expect delays for 24 hours due to backlogs in the rail system, Faust said.
BNSF is still investigating the cause of the incident, which caused no injuries or hazardous material spills, he said.
