BOLERO.NET EXPANDS INTO AIR FREIGHT WITH DANZAS
'Bolero.net, the London-based electronic document communications system provider, has signed freight forwarding and logistics giant Danzas Group to use its system.
Danzas AEI Intercontinental will initially use the system throughout its intercontinental operations, including air and ocean freight and forwarding functions.
Basel, Switzerland-based Danzas Group was acquired by Deutsche Post World Net in December 1998. Deutsche Post acquired Air Express International in February 2000 and merged it with Danzas.
“With bolero.net, apart from our savings in terms of time and operating costs, we are able to offer value by providing information management in addition to the physical goods flow,” said Renato Chiavi, head of Danzas AEI Intercontinental. “Furthermore we achieve significant increase in efficiency and transparency.”
Danzas also marks the first time bolero.net has extended into the air freight sector.
The Bolero system allows all companies involved in an international trade transaction to exchange contractual, settlement and fulfillment data online in a secure environment.
Bolero.net also said Thursday it has appointed Robert Bauman and Hans Eggerstedt as non-executive directors.
Bauman was chairman of British Aerospace from 1994 to 1998, chairman of BTR plc from 1998 to 1999 and chief executive officer of SmithKline Beecham from 1989 to 1994, where he oversaw the merger that led to SKB's creation.
Eggerstedt spent more than 30 years with Unilever including serving as finance director from 1993 to 1999.
