BOLERO.NET SIGNS UP JAPANESE TRADERS, BANKS

   Three major Japanese trading houses and three Japanese banks have signed a contract to use Bolero.net, the Internet-based trade transactions system provider.

   The trading houses are Marubeni, Nissho Iwai and Itochu Corp. The banks involved are Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Dai-ichi Kangyo Bank and Fuji Bank. All three banks will soon merge into Mizuho Holdings.

   Bolero.net is building a secure electronic system for world trade that enables companies to exchange trade documents and data via the Internet.

   Toshinori Yagura, general manager of the corporate finance division at Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, said that the Bolero.net system will allow the bank to offer its customers and suppliers access to more efficient and secure systems, and help improve efficiency.

   Japanese ocean carrier “K” Line announced recently it was joining the Bolero.net network.
