Bourne named director of ELAA lobby group
The European Liner Affairs Association (ELAA), the Brussels-based lobby group of container shipping lines, has appointed Chris Bourne, formerly managing director of MOL (Europe) Ltd., as its executive director, effective Sept. 1.
He will succeed Ken Soerensen, the organization’s founding director, who was recently appointed president and chief executive officer of United Arab Shipping Co.
Besides working for MOL, Bourne has worked for Sea-Land Service and CMB Transport and is a board director of the Port of Tyne Authority.
“The ELAA has done a fine job since its inception in 2003 of promoting the interests of the liner industry in its dealings with the European Commission,” Bourne said in a statement. “The process of deciding the future of Regulation 4056/86 is far from complete, and I am looking forward to articulating our industry’s views in the continuing debate.”
