Box volume rises 9% at Marseilles-Fos
Container throughput at the port of Marseilles-Fos, France, rose 9 percent in the first four months of this year to 302,000 TEUs.
Growth was faster at the Fos container terminal, where volumes rose 11 percent in January-April to 197,000 TEUs. The Marseilles terminals, handling mainly north/south trades, saw a 4-percent volume gain to 105,000 TEUs.
Total port traffic, including bulk cargoes, was down 5 percent to 30.3 million tons, largely due to a 9-percent fall in oil traffic to 19.1 million tons.
