Brazil port implements CSI
The port of Santos, Brazil, the largest in South America, became the 39th port to begin screening outbound cargo at the request of U.S. customs officers as part of the Container Security Initiative.
Brazil committed in May to host U.S. customs officers who help identify boxes for Brazilian Customs to inspect for potential terrorist threats.
Customs and Border Protection is expected to announce the start of CSI operations at another port by the end of the month.
