BREMEN PORTSÆ TRAFFIC IMPROVES 10% IN JANUARY
The ports of Bremen and Bremerhaven handled a combined 3.8 million tons of goods in January, a 10.1-percent increase over their combined traffic in January 2002.
Bremerhaven moved 2.7 million tons in January, 9.9 percent more than in January 2002. Nearby Bremen handled 1.1 million tons, representing a 10.4 percent rise.
The two ports also moved 245,337 TEUs of container traffic in January, compared to 219,791 TEUs a year earlier. This marked an 11.6-percent jump in container volumes and the highest January container throughput ever at the ports.
