BRINSON ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF NATIONAL WATERWAYS CONFERENCE
J. Ron Brinson, former port director and now special projects coordinator of the Port of New Orleans, was elected chairman of the National Waterways Conference at the organization's annual meeting in Louisville, Ky.
Brinson succeeds Craig E. Philip, president and chief executive officer of Ingram Barge Co., who served as chairman for the last two years.
Brinson, president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans from 1986 through September 2001, is now in charge of the port's “millennium port” and other special projects.
H. Merritt Lane III, also of New Orleans, was named vice chairman. He is president and CEO of Canal Barge co. Harry N. Cook, of Washington, was reelected as president. Fred C. Raskin, formerly president of Eastern Enterprises Inc., was named first vice president.
