BRITISH POST OFFICE ACQUIRES DANISH PARCEL COMPANY
The British Post Office has acquired Pakke-Trans A/S, a Danish parcel distribution company, for '18 million ($29 million).
Pakke-Trans A/S is an independently owned parcel distribution company serving Denmark and is part of the General Parcel network accessing all of Europe. In 1999, it delivered more than 6.5 million parcels to around 4,000 customers.
The purchase is the latest in a series of acquisitions by the British Post Office which began last year. The British postal operator has also purchased German Parcel and Der Kurier in Germany; Williames Group in Ireland; New York-based Citipost Group in the U.S.; and the Crie group of companies in France.
“More international deals are expected,” a spokesman for the British Post Office said.
