Bromma opens after-sales DC in North Carolina

Stockholm-based Bromma Group, which manufactures crane spreaders, said Monday it has opened a new 5,000-square-foot after-sales distribution center in Durham, N.C., to support record spreader sales growth in the Americas.

The new facility will allow Bromma to expand the size of its on-site spare parts inventory, speeding the turnaround on spare parts orders, the company said. Bromma's after-sales target is same-day shipping of spare parts orders. Increasing Americas inventory will sharply lower the number of parts that must be sourced from Scandinavia.

Bromma Americas said it is experiencing a surge in crane spreader orders ' in 2005. More than 175 crane spreaders were sold, a new record for the Americas ' and in 2006 Bromma is on target to achieve equally strong results, the company said.

'Privatization in Latin America is driving a build-out of terminal capacity, and the large global organizations are of course very active throughout the Americas,' Troy Thompson, Bromma vice president of North and South American sales, said in a statement.
