Bronson pushes alternate fuels in Tallahassee
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commission Charles H. Bronson Wednesday told state legislators that Florida can become the nation's leading producer of alternative fuels, and asked for tax incentives to boost that market.
'You today are in a position of putting Florida ahead of the pack,' he said. 'It will be a Florida that looks much different than it does today.'
He noted the University of Florida has discovered ways to use bacteria to create ethanol from sawgrass and other Florida crops that could outstrip production from corn-based operations in the Midwest.
Florida officials have been touting ethanol as a means of increasing alternative fuels for not on the domestic market, but international markets.
