BUSH ADMINISTRATION NOMINATES SCHUBERT TO MARITIME ADMINISTRATOR

   The Bush administration has nominated William Schubert to administrator of the Transportation Department’s Maritime Administration.

   Schubert, whose name has been forwarded to the Senate for consideration, is president of Pinehurst, Texas-based International Trade and Transportation.

   From 1986 to 1995, Schubert held various posts at MarAd. In 1986, he was appointed special advisor to the agency’s administrator and from 1990 to 1995, he served as the MarAd’s regional representative for the southwestern United States.

   During 1984 and 1986, Schubert was the master and U.K. installation manager of three offshore drilling units and from 1974 to 1984, he was a licensed desk officer with Reynolds Metals Co. Schubert is also a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
