BUSH EXTENDS NATIONAL EMERGENCY ON U.S. EXPORT CONTROL
President Bush on Wednesday issued an Executive Order
to extend for one more year the national emergency relevant to U.S. export control.
This week’s order is a continuation of Bush’s order issued last August to protect the United States due to an “unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States in light of the Export Administration Act of 1979.”
Bush stated that since the EA Act had not been renewed by Congress, the national emergency declared Aug. 17, 2001, should be in effect for another year.
