BUSH ORDERS TRANSITION TEAM TO PLAN DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

President Bush on Thursday made an order to establish a transition planning office within the Office of Management and Budget for his proposed Department of Homeland Security.

The transition planning office will be established to guide the formation of such an agency, and coordinate with the appropriate executives in efforts to form the agency. Through this, the director of OMB shall ensure that the transition planning office will receive appropriate personnel and assignees.

The transition office shall terminate within 90 days after legislation is approved for a Department of Homeland Security, or within one year of the date of Bush’s order, whichever occurs first.
