Bush promotes future U.S.-Colombia free trade agreement

President Bush said the United States is “working hard” to conclude a free trade agreement with Colombia.

Bush discussed the free trade agreement talks at a Feb. 16 press conference at the White House with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez.

“Trade agreements are never easy, and that’s what’s very important to understand ' in my judgment and agreement with this important country, Colombia, will be a very important agreement,” Bush said.

“We have been negotiating an FTA (free trade agreement) for the last 23 months,” Uribe said. “All of us have come to this negotiation in good faith and I’m sure that we will see a conclusion.”
