BXA FINES WORCHELL TRANSPORT FOR ILLEGAL EXPORTS

The U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Export Administration has fined Springfield Garden, N.Y.-based Worchell Transport $40,000 for engaging in illegal exports with a entity on the agency’s denied persons list.

Under the name Prime Transport, a customs broker and freight forwarder, Worchell had allegedly made eight illegal shipments to Cosmotrans AG in Switzerland between 1995 and 1996. The Export Administration denied Cosmotran’s U.S. export privileges in 1988 for 20 years.

As part of the settlement, the Export Administration will suspend $7,000 of the $40,000 fine for one year, and will waive that amount provided that Prime Transport commits no further violation.

Special agents from the Export Administration’s Export Enforcement office in New York investigated the case.
