BXA UPDATES COMMERCE CONTROL LIST TO REFLECT WASSENAAR ARRANGEMENT
The U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Export Administration has revised its export control list to reflect changes brought about by the Wassenaar Arrangement.
The Wassenaar Arrangement is a multilateral agreement, of which the United States is a founding member, that places controls on certain conventional weapons and so-called “dual-use” items to improve regional and international security.
The changes to the Export Administration’s Commerce Control List affect certain high-level electronics and computer technologies, such as microprocessors, graphic accelerators and external interconnects. “This change is being implemented to reflect the rapid technological advances and controllability factors,” the Export Administration said.
