Canada/Europe carriers raise inland charge from Toronto
Conference carriers in the Canada-to-northern Europe trade plan to raise inland rail charges to moves containers from Toronto to the port of loading.
There has been “a dramatic increase in inland transport costs” coupled with “a steady decline in the level of revenue in the Canada/Europe eastbound trade,” the Canada United Kingdom Freight Conference and Canadian Continental Eastbound Freight Conference said in a joint statement.
Inland charges will be raised $75 per TEU on June 1, $75 per TEU on Sept. 1 and $40 per TEU on Feb. 1, 2006, the conferences said.
