Canada PM names cabinet

Stephen Harper, Canada’s new prime minister, last week formed a streamlined cabinet.

The head of the Conservative Party named David Emerson, a former minister of industry and head of the Vancouver International Airport Authority, to be minister of international trade. First-time members of Parliament Maxime Bernier and Lawrence Cannon were named minister of industry and minister of transport, infrastructure and communities, respectively.

Cannon previously worked as head of an urban transport association in Quebec.
