Canadian agency imposes duties on steel fuel tanks from China, Taiwan
The Canada Border Services Agency has imposed provisional duties ranging from 39.4 percent to 83.4 percent on imports of certain steel fuel tanks from China and Taiwan.
The agency started its investigation on Dec. 19, after it received a petition from Spectra Premium Industries in Boucherville, Quebec. The agency determined that duties are needed to offset dumping. Dumping occurs when goods are sold to importers at prices below the selling prices of the domestic producer’s exports or at unprofitable prices.
The agency may impose antidumping duties under the authority in the Special Import Measures Act.
