CARGO 2000 ELECTS NEW CHAIRMAN
Cargo 2000, the international group of airlines and forwarders working to reduce inefficiency in air freight, named as its chairman Patrick Moebel, vice president in charge of air freight at German logistics company Schenker AG.
David R. Brooks, president of American Airlines cargo, was elected vice chairman during a meeting of the group’s board. Moebel and Brooks replace Jim Hartigan, vice president of cargo at United Airlines, and Harry Takahashi, president of Yusen Air & Sea Service Co., respectively.
“Jim Hartigan and Harry Takahashi have served with distinction as chairman and vice chairman for the last three years and they will continue to play an important role as members of the Cargo 2000 board,” said Ron Cesana, Cargo 2000 project director.
Moebel began his career with Panalpina in France and joined Schenker in 1987. He is a member of company’s board of directors. “I am very much looking forward to my two years as Cargo 2000 chairman,” Moebel said. “We are moving from the theory stage to reality, which will see a high degree of valuable interaction with our customers.”
