CBP outfits Calexico with large radiation detectors
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it is installing roadside, radiation detection devices on all passenger vehicle and commercial truck lanes at the Calexico port of entry along the California-Mexico border.
The news comes a week after CBP said the checkpoint had begun the expedited truck processing program known as Free and Secure Trade (FAST).
CBP has installed more than 300 radiation portal monitors, mostly at land border crossings, and normally doesn’t announce each deployment. Calexico is a large commercial crossing and local port officials apparently decided an announcement was worthwhile.
