Central Freight Lines goes public
Central Freight Lines completed its initial public offering of common stock, netting an estimated $78 million. Underwriters sold 8.5 million shares on behalf of the company, including 2.8 million for Jerry Moyes, the principle stockholder and chairman of the regional less-than-truckload carrier. Central is listed on the Nasdaq exchange.
Moyes is chairman and chief executive of Swift Transportation, the largest public truckload carrier in the United States.
Central said it plans to use proceeds from the stock sale to pay down debt and for general operating purposes.
