Chertoff vote expected today on homeland security appointment

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote Tuesday on the nomination of Michael Chertoff to be secretary of homeland security.

The department has been led for the past 14 days by acting Secretary James Loy, following the departure of Tom Ridge. The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee approved Chertoff’s nomination last week.
