China buys x-ray machines
The Chinese government has received 120 X-ray detection systems from Weibsbaden, Germany-based Smiths Detection, and sister company Smiths Heimann, for deployment at several airports.
The Civil Aviation Authority of China spent 8 million euros ($10 million) for the technology to screen passengers and cargo for weapons and contraband.
Products acquired include the Hi-Scan 145180, designed to handle large air freight pallets, as well as mobile baggage and small parcel systems ensconced in vans and trailers.
