China selects SeaSecure for security training

The Chinese government has selected Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based SeaSecure LLC to provide maritime security and antiterrorism training to senior members of the Hong Kong marine department.

The marine department students will become port facility security officers in Hong Kong or the People's Republic of China, where they will perform port security audits, SeaSecure said.

The three- and five-day training programs will provide “comprehensive instruction” on maritime security, using protocols established by the International Maritime Organization and SeaSecure.

“Working with our regional partner, Securicor plc, we have already concluded over six training and certification classes and more are already in the pipeline,” said Kim Petersen, SeaSecure's president.

SeaSecure said it has performed security assessments in over 90 countries and 165 seaports. It is a security consultant to all of Florida’s deep-water ports, and has performed seaport and facility vulnerability and threat assessments at over a dozen seaports in the U.S.
