CHINA SHIPPING JOINS WTSA CARRIER GROUP

   The Westbound Transpacific Stabilization Agreement, a carrier group in the transpacific container trade that adopts recommendations on rates and surcharges, confirmed that China Shipping Container Lines has joined the agreement, effective Jan. 1.

   The addition of China Shipping, an expansionist carrier, had not been disclosed before.

   The Westbound Transpacific Stabilization Agreement now has 13 carrier members:    APL, China Shipping, COSCO Container Lines, Evergreen Marine Corp., Hanjin Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, “K” Line, MOL, NYK, Orient Overseas Container Line, P&O Nedlloyd and Yang Ming.
