CHINA SOUTHERN AIRLINES ADDS U.S. TRUCKING FEEDER SERVICES

China Southern Airlines, China's largest airline, has developed a system to move Asia-based cargo coming into the United States by placing airline flight numbers on secured and bonded trucks.

The system will allow China Southern to move in-bound freight from China to U.S. airport cargo destinations, including Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio; Denver; Newark and New York, N.Y.; Memphis; and Miami.

By placing airline flight numbers on the trucks moving freight, Asia-based customers will be able to track their packages through to its final destination.

'Placing airline numbers on trucks creates a total turnkey solution to moving freight from Asia to various destinations throughout the USA,' said Wayne Chen, general manager, China Southern Airlines Cargo.

Chen added that the service is a selling point for freight forwarders and cargo customers because they can have one carrier handle the entire shipment rather than transferring to another company for ground transportation.

China Southern provides thrice weekly cargo flights from Chicago to Shenzhen with cargo stops in Shanghai, and direct service from Shenzhen to Chicago.
