CHO YANG PULLS OUT OF TRANSATLANTIC TRADE

Cho Yang has finally terminated its transatlantic services.

The Korean carrier, which had a very small market share in the North America/northern Europe trade, had served the transatlantic market as part of the United Alliance’s AWE-PDM Asia/North America/northern Europe “pendulum” service. In January, Cho Yang reduced its slot capacity in the northern Europe/North America trade by 50 percent, in both directions, and announced a decision to concentrate on direct U.S. East Coast ports only.

However, a spokesman for Cho Yang in Germany said that the carrier will continue to operate its Mediterranean/U.S. service.

Hanjin Shipping and Senator Lines, former partners of Cho Yang in the United Alliance, are continuing the weekly North America/northern Europe transatlantic service unchanged.
