CKYH Alliance restructuring Pacific Northwest services

CKYH Alliance carriers COSCO, “K” Line, Hanjin Shipping and Yang Ming will from the start of July merge their two Pacific Northwest loops into one butterfly string.

The PNW South and PNW North, both of which use four ships of about 5,500 TEUs, will instead operate with nine same-size vessels (five from Hanjin and four from COSCO) on a single loop calling Hong Kong, Yantian, Yokohama, Vancouver, Seattle, Yokohama, Shanghai, Busan, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Kwangyang and back to Hong Kong.

All of the ports previously served on the two loops remain on the new service. The transit times from Yantian to Vancouver will be 12 days and from Shanghai to Seattle will be 11 days.

“CKYH Alliance believes that this restructuring will further improve their express service as well as more schedule integrity that links North Asia to U.S. Northwest Coast,” the carriers said in a joint statement.
