CKYHS ALLIANCE ADDS CAPACITY TO ASIA/EUROPE SERVICE
The global alliance of COSCO, “K” Line, Yangming Marine Transport, Hanjin Shipping and Senator Lines is changing the port rotation and introducing larger ships into its weekly Asia/Europe “CEX” service.
Eight Hanjin ships averaging 5,435 TEUs, taken from the transpacific “PSX” and the U.S./Asia/Europe “PDS” services, are replacing ships averaging 4,255 TEUs previously used in the CEX loop. The phasing-in of the new ships will be complete by March.
On this service, calls at Singapore, Shanghai and Chiwan are being dropped, with new calls at Busan, Yantian and Port Kelang taking their place. The first vessel to commence the new port rotation is the 4,389 TEU “Hanjin Praha,” when it departs from Hamburg on Jan. 8.
The revised port rotation for the “CEX” service is Hamburg, Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Busan, Qingdao, Xingang, Busan, Yantian, Port Kelang, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Felixstowe.
Meanwhile, Sinotrans Container Lines will end its cooperation with the CKYHS alliance in the Asia/Europe trade in January, as previously announced. The Chinese carrier had contributed three ships to the “CEX” service.
