CMA CGM christens Europe/Caribbean reefer containerships
Marseilles-based CMA CGM has christened the “CMA CGM Fort Saint Louis,” a new 2,262-TEU containership, in Fort de France, Martinique. The French carrier will also christen sistership “CMA CGM Fort Sainte Marie” next month in Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe.
Both vessels are part of a series of four reefer vessels delivered to CMA CGM late last year for its north Europe/French West Indies service, which carries bananas to Europe. Each vessel is equipped with 550 reefer plugs that allow the loading of 40-foot reefer containers, equivalent to 1,100 TEUs, or 11,000 tons of bananas per ship.
The vessels were built in Taiwan and sail under the French flag.
