CMA CGM confirms Pacific deployment of 8,200-TEU ships

   CMA CGM confirmed it will deploy in August its first 8,200-TEU vessel, the “CMA CGM Hugo,” in a new transpacific service to and from California.

   The vessel and four sister ships will be phased in by November into the “Pearl River Express” service, a joint operation with Mediterranean Shipping Co.

   China Shipping Container Lines is also expected to deploy 8,000-TEU boxships in the Pacific trade this summer, but has not made any announcements.
