CMA CGM, CONTSHIP, MARFRET TO EXPAND ROUND-THE-WORLD SERVICE

   CMA CGM, Contship Containerlines and Marfret are planning to add a ninth containership to their joint round-the-world service.

   One of the carriers in the joint Europe/U.S. East

Coast/Australasia/Suez/Europe service would phase in the extra ship in June.

   At present, the round-the-world service employs eight ships of about 2,200-TEU capacity, with sailings every 11 days. It calls at Tilbury, Rotterdam, Dunkirk, Le Havre, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Papeete (Polynesia), Auckland, Noumea, Brisbane,    Sydney, Melbourne, Jakarta, Singapore, Colombo, Port Said, La Spezia, Marseille and Tilbury.
