CMA CGM INTRODUCES ANOTHER 6,500-TEU SHIP
CMA CGM is introducing a new 6,500-TEU containership, the “CMA CGM Baudelaire” into its FAL service between Asia and northern Europe.
The second in a series of eight 6,500-TEU sisterships built for CMA CGM, the new vessel is scheduled to enter service on Saturday (June 2) in Pusan.
The other six ships in the series will enter the FAL Asia/Europe service by the end of the year. Once all the ships in the FAL service have been replaced by the new post-Panamax container vessels, the capacity of the service will have increased by 50 percent, or about 130,000 TEUs a year, in each direction.
China Shipping Container Lines, Contship Containerlines, National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia and Norasia take slots on the FAL service, operated mainly with CMA CGM vessels.
CMA CGM is switching its current vessels in this service to the transpacific trade, as it introduces new tonnage in its Asia/Europe services.
