CMA CGM to introduce 8,500-TEU ships on Asia/Europe service
CMA CGM will start introducing eight 8,500-TEU vessels on its weekly French Asia Line (FAL) service from the end of this month, sparking a cascade of ships within the Asia to Europe and Mediterranean trades.
The vessel “CMA CGM Otello” will join the FAL service in the port of Busan in Korea Nov. 26, arriving at Le Havre Dec. 22.
The new 8,500 TEU series of ships, all of which have names from classic operas, will replace the FAL service’s present fleet of 6,500 TEU ships. The existing FAL ships will then be transferred over to the NCX service, replacing ships with 5,700 TEU capacity. In turn, the NCX ships will replace the 4,000-TEU ships on the MEX service.
